NJ cop shoots bear as it nears youngsters

A Parsippany, NJ police officer killed a 125-pound black bear yesterday as it approached an elementary school where youngsters were having a picnic. The officer shot the bear twice with a department shotgun about 100 yards from the children, said a department spokeswoman. In The Star-Ledger.
