Clawless black panther killed in Missouri was no cougar

Experts from the Missouri Department of Conservation say that a 40-pound jet-black leopard killed by a Newton County sheriff's deputy in May was not native to Missouri or even to North America. Biologists say that the lack of claws and smooth pads point to a Pantera pardus that had been kept by someone. MDOC.
