Number of unwanted horses increasing in US

Under continued pressure from animal rights groups, the closure of the country's horse slaughterhouses has resulted in an influx of horses at shelters nationwide, according to breeders, ranchers and horse rescuers. The situation threatens to worsen if Congress passes a bill to ban the selling of horses to meat processors in Canada and Mexico. Reported in USA Today.
