One-Line Bio

The Outdoor Newshound

Biography

During his 30-plus years as a journalist and outdoor writer, J.R. Absher has been employed as a newspaper reporter, photographer, forest service mule wrangler, trade magazine editor, political consultant, copywriter, PR director and sportsman’s advocate. In recent years, he has become a favorite among fellow outdoor communicators for his expertise in tracking, collecting and sharing amusing morsels of outdoors oddities as well as relevant news about hunting, fishing, the shooting sports and items of interest to the outdoor enthusiast. An avowed recovering hermit when he’s not traveling to and from various hunting and angling locales, J.R. resides (hides out) in a rustic, secluded cabin located in the backwoods of southern Indiana’s Hoosier National Forest.
